Dear Sir/Madam,
We hereby inform you that, as of 5 May 2026, the operational implementation of SEPA payments and incoming transfers will be enabled in the Republic of Serbia.
This change brings faster, simpler, and more cost-efficient execution of euro transactions to countries within the SEPA area.
This means the following for you:
- euro payments to SEPA countries will be executed faster — with same-day value date for payment orders submitted within the cut-off time defined in the Bank’s cut-off schedule;
- payment orders submitted after the cut-off time will be executed on the next business day;
- incoming payments received via the SEPA scheme will be credited to your account immediately, without waiting for the declaration of the transaction purpose code;
- the cut-off time for SEPA payment orders is available on the Bank’s website within the Timetable section;
- fees for SEPA transactions will be more favorable, and the applicable fee schedule is available on the Bank’s website within the Tariff of Fees section.
SEPA payments refer to transactions that meet the following conditions:
- the payment currency is euro (EUR);
- the mandatory information is the beneficiary’s IBAN;
- the beneficiary bank must be a participant in the SEPA Credit Transfer scheme;
- costs are shared under the SHAR (shared) model, meaning that each party bears the fees charged by its own bank.
All transactions that meet these conditions will be considered for execution via the SEPA payment scheme. It is important to note the following:
- payments with the OUR (DEBT) option are not executed via SEPA schemes;
- payments outside the SEPA area, as well as payments in other currencies and those with OUR (DEBT) and BEN (CRED) fee options, will continue to be processed via SWIFT and correspondent banking networks;
- payment orders may still be submitted via digital channels or in paper form;
- the obligation to submit supporting documentation remains unchanged in all cases where it has been previously required.
Regarding SEPA incoming transfers, funds will be credited to your account immediately; however, you are still required to:
- declare the basis of collection to your bank on the same day or no later than the next business day;
- submit documentation when such an obligation is prescribed.
If these obligations are not fulfilled, the Bank is required to notify the National Bank of Serbia, which may lead to foreign exchange control procedures.
The SEPA area includes all European Union countries, as well as other countries participating in the SEPA system, including Norway, Switzerland, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Monaco, San Marino, Andorra, Vatican City, the United Kingdom, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Albania, and Serbia.
For additional information, you may contact your client advisor, the Bank’s contact center at 0800 330 300 and +381 33 06 300.
Yours faithfully,
Adriatic Bank
